About Dvorak

Dvorak was born long ago in a country that no longer exists. Dvorak has taught History; German, Geography; Math and Gifted Education. He also ran a Chess Club for over 9 years in the Sonoran Desert. Dvorak holds a Masters Degree in Gifted Education; a Bachelors Degree in History and Social Sciences and holds a teaching credential in California and Tennessee. Mr. Dvorak plays violin for a local symphony orchestra as a hobby.

What is Scholar Seminar?

Scholar Seminar is a Gifted Education pull-out class that promotes critical thinking and creative problem solving to advanced topics.

What do we do in Scholar Seminar?

We strive to teach critical thinking and creative problem-solving applied to advanced topics in math, science, engineering, social studies, and literature. The curriculum is designed to be well-rounded and is naturally geared to challenge and stretch the minds of our gifted learners.

Our curriculum never goes stale and is drawn from wide variety of sources from all over the world. Instruction is differentiated and strives to meet the skills of many different kinds of gifted learners.

When do we meet?

At Ellis we meet on Mondays and Tuesdays.

At Hawkins we meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

August/ September2023

8th Graders--
We begin the Year with an Overview of the Renaissance and delve into Renaissance Ideals and the way in which the world changed as a result. Music and Art as well as a Dome Project and Dome Formulas will give great depth and complexity to our studies.


7th Graders
---

We begin the year with a creative writing assignment that will serve as a precursor to a great Saga set during Medieval Times; from that will arise a Screen Play and short film Project.

6th Graders
---

Students will be introduced to the Ancient Philosophers and the basis of Learning. Roman and Greek History will start the year with a good deal of Latin .
